Sourcing HGH: what to verify

HGH is sold in two worlds: somatropin, a pharmacy injection dispensed on a prescription against a diagnosis, and everything else offered under the letters HGH, which no source among the research behind this page has examined. We name no seller and carry no prices; what we give instead is a method for checking whatever is in front of you.
The pharmacy product is made by a named firm to a specification filed with a regulator, and the lawful route in the United States is narrow and easy to describe. Every somatropin listing in the FDA enforcement record is marked Rx only or Prescription Only, and approval attaches to one named product and one named diagnosis at a time: a 2022 review records that lonapegsomatropin received its first approval in August 2021 in the USA for pediatric patients at least 1 year of age. None of the approved diagnoses is ageing, muscle or sport.
Outside that route, verification stops at a handful of public records and one document. The FDA enforcement database can be searched free by compound name or by firm name, and the listings show what a documented presentation carried: a firm, a street address, a strength such as 30 mg/3 mL, a national drug code and the words Rx only.
Eight recalls sit in that record between 2012 and 2021, and every one names a pharmaceutical firm. One was filed for Lack of Assurance of Sterility. Nothing in it describes material sold under those three letters by anybody else, and that silence is not a clean bill of health.
Evidence: No published ranking or evaluation of sellers exists · 8 FDA recalls of somatropin presentations, 2012 to 2021, covering sterility, chemical contamination, device failure and labelling · no published analysis of identity, concentration or sterility in growth hormone obtained outside a pharmacy
Where do you actually get HGH?
review
Two routes exist, and only one has left a record anybody can read. The first is a pharmacy injection called somatropin, dispensed against a prescription and made by a named firm to a filed specification. A 2022 review records that lonapegsomatropin received its first approval in August 2021 in the USA for pediatric patients at least 1 year of age.1 The second route is everything offered for sale under the letters HGH, and no source among the research behind this page describes what sits inside any of it. The somatropin entries in the FDA enforcement record each name a pharmaceutical firm at a street address. One of them records a Norditropin FlexPro Somatropin (rDNA origin) injection, 30 mg/3 mL Prefilled Pen, Rx only, from Novo Nordisk Inc., Plainsboro, NJ.2 That silence is not a clean bill of health. In the research behind this page, it means the material has not been examined anywhere a reader can check, rather than examined and found acceptable.
What does a lawful purchase of HGH look like?
regulatory action
Growth hormone is a prescription medicine in the United States, and the only purchase with documentation behind it is a pharmacy filling a prescription written against one of the approved diagnoses. Every somatropin listing in the enforcement record carries that status openly. One entry records a 5 mg (15 IU) 1-count bottle, Rx Only.3 A second Tev-Tropin listing records a 5 mg (15 IU) bottle marked Prescription Only.4 Approval attaches to one named product and one named diagnosis at a time, and none of those diagnoses is ageing, muscle or sport. A purchase made for any of those reasons therefore sits outside the approved route and outside everything the enforcement record covers. Whether such a purchase is also a criminal matter is a question for a statute, and nothing in the published record behind this page settles it. What that record does settle is which supply has ever been examined by anyone.
How hard is it to get a prescription for HGH?
human pilot / early trial
It turns on a diagnosis, because each approval is written around a condition somebody has been found to have. One covers children who do not make enough growth hormone of their own.1 A 2014 review records that recombinant growth hormone (somatropin) is now approved for clinical use in patients with short bowel syndrome.5 A 2006 review records a third approval, for wasting in HIV.6 What happens once a prescription is written is better recorded than most people expect. A UK study drew on a nationwide database of home-delivery schedules, covering 6,061 children receiving either Zomacton via the ZomaJet jet-delivery device or one of six brands of GH all administered via needle-based devices.7 So the approved route is a delivery system, with brands, schedules and a named patient at the end of it. Nothing of the kind has been written down for material bought any other way, and that gap is the honest answer rather than a verdict on anyone's chances.
What is HGH for sale online?
human RCT
It is a listing, and no source among the research behind this page describes what is in one. In these sources, no analysis of identity, concentration or sterility has been published for growth hormone obtained outside a pharmacy, which leaves the question unmeasured rather than settled. What can be said is what the published figures attach to. Every number anywhere on this site came from material made by a named firm, tracked by batch and given under a protocol. One example is the 52-week trial that enrolled and dosed 161 treatment-naive, prepubertal patients with growth hormone deficiency.8 That trial took place at 73 sites across 15 countries.8 A listing under the same three letters shares the name. Whether it shares anything beyond the name is a question only a laboratory report can begin to answer, and then only for the one batch that report covers.
Who supplies HGH peptides?
review
There is no published answer, and any page offering a name is improvising. Among the research behind this page, no study, agency or register evaluates the sellers of growth hormone, so a name on a page of this kind would be an opinion rather than a finding. We give none. The record does name manufacturers, because an approved injection has to carry one. FDA listings print them beside an address and a code, among them Nutropin AQ NuSpin 20 (somatropin (rDNA origin) injection) 20 mg/2mL from Genentech, South San Francisco, CA 94080, NDC#50242-0076-01.9 One further distinction matters here, because the phrase HGH peptides covers two different things. Engineered versions of the hormone itself are approved medicines with named makers behind them. One of them, lonapegsomatropin, is a long-acting prodrug of somatropin.10 Compounds sold as growth-hormone releasing peptides work by another route and are covered on the comparison page.
What can you actually verify about a seller?
regulatory action
Four things, and not one of them is quality. The first is a registered business with an address behind the trading name, which the enforcement listings print as a matter of course: one entry gives Tev-Tropin (Somatropin) Injection, Rx, Western Drug Inc. 106 E. Main Street, Springerville, Arizona 85938.11 The second is what the FDA enforcement database returns when that name is searched. The third is a certificate of analysis carrying the batch number printed on the vial you were sent, and the fourth is confirmation from the named laboratory that it issued that certificate. That is a procedure rather than a verdict, and it is the more useful of the two. A verdict goes stale the moment a firm changes supplier, whereas a procedure keeps working on whatever is actually in front of you.
What should the label on a vial carry?
regulatory action
The enforcement listings make a useful template, because the agency recorded what a compliant label carried. A 2013 entry reads Nutropin AQ NuSpin 10 (somatropin (rDNA origin) injection) 10 mg/2mL, followed by a firm, a town and the code NDC#50242-0074-01.12 Another covers a needle-free delivery device for use with ZOMACTON (somatropin) for injection 10 mg vial.13 Five fields sit in lines like those: the compound and its form, the amount and the volume holding it, the prescription status, an identifiable firm at a real address, and a code that can be searched. A vial arriving with no lot number, no strength per millilitre and no business behind the trading name is missing fields that every documented presentation carried. That absence is checkable in a way a claim about quality is not.
How do you search the FDA enforcement record?
regulatory action
The agency publishes its enforcement reports in a searchable database and releases the same material as open data. Searching the compound name returns whatever has been filed about it, and searching a firm name returns whatever has been filed against that firm. For growth hormone the search returns eight entries between 2012 and 2021, each carrying a firm, a date and a classification. One was filed for Lack of Assurance of Sterility.11 Another was filed because a batch may contain silicone oil due to leakage of a leaking line during the freeze-drying process.3 Two cautions travel with any such search. A recall names the firm that filed it rather than every business that resold the material, and an absence from the database is an absence rather than evidence of good practice.
What does a certificate of analysis establish?
regulatory action
A certificate of analysis is a laboratory report on one batch, and it is the only document in this market carrying testable information. Its limits matter as much as its contents do. It establishes what a laboratory found in the sample that reached it. Purity figures usually come from liquid chromatography, which measures how much of a sample is the intended compound, and identity from mass spectrometry, which confirms the substance is the one named. A purity figure on its own says a vial holds 99% of something rather than 99% of the right thing. What it does not establish is that the analysed sample came out of the batch you were sent, or anything whatsoever about what the compound does inside a body. Nor does it cover the conditions the batch was made under, which is the finding behind the growth hormone recall filed for Lack of Assurance of Sterility.11
What is a biosimilar version, and is it the same thing?
review
A biosimilar is an approved copy of a medicine grown in cells, and the word is a legal one rather than a sales one. A 2011 review records that biosimilars of recombinant somatropin have gained market authorisation in the EU.14 Approval of that kind rests on a check somebody made and then wrote down. For the copies that passed, similarity in terms of quality, safety and efficacy to a reference product was demonstrated.14 So an approved copy is one a regulator held up against the first version and let through. A vial that merely shares a chemical name has been held up against nothing at all, and the two are not the same thing even when the molecule in them is.
How much does HGH cost?
review
No source among the research behind this page establishes a price, and we hold no commercial information at all. Prices move, they vary by country and by pharmacy, and any figure printed on a page of this kind is out of date before anybody reads it. The literature acknowledges the gap from inside an approved use. A 2006 review of growth hormone in HIV-associated wasting lists the cost effectiveness of treatment among the questions still open, alongside the optimal somatropin dosage, which is a striking pair of admissions about an approved medicine.15 What is worth understanding instead is what a price attaches to. An approved injection carries a filed specification, a named manufacturer and the trial record standing behind it, while a vial bought elsewhere carries a chemical name. Those are different goods rather than one good at two prices.
What is the price of HGH per IU?
regulatory action
No source among the research behind this page prices growth hormone by international unit, and the unit has to be pinned down before the question can even be put. Documented labels print both measures, and one FDA listing pairs them on a single line by recording a 5 mg (15 IU) 1-count bottle.3 That pairing belongs to that labelled bottle rather than to growth hormone in general, and what the units mean is set out on the dosage page. A vial with no label states no strength at all, so a figure in international units for unlabelled material has nothing to attach itself to. Price per unit therefore asks for a ratio between two numbers, and neither of them is published for material bought outside a pharmacy. That leaves it an unmeasured question rather than a cheap answer or an expensive one.
Is HGH worth the cost?
human pilot / early trial
That is a judgement about your own money and your own situation, and judging a reader's decision is the one thing we will not do. Judging the evidence is a different job, and it is the one worth doing here. What money buys inside the approved route is documentation. A 2022 report covers the full KIGS cohort of 83,803 children.16 In that cohort, median rhGH treatment duration was 2.7 years and observation 3.1 years.16 That record exists because every vial behind it was dispensed, tracked and reported by somebody. In the research behind this page, what money buys outside that route has not been measured. No analysis among the research behind this page reports identity, concentration or sterility for growth hormone obtained anywhere else, so the comparison people are reaching for is between a documented good and an undocumented one rather than between two prices.
Is HGH better than TRT or testosterone?
review
No published comparison sits in the record behind this page, and testosterone falls outside the sources it draws on altogether. So the question has not been asked in anything we can check, which differs from having been asked and answered badly. What can be set out is where each approval stops. Growth hormone is approved against named diagnoses, and the only one of them that mentions lean body mass ties it to an illness. A 2006 review records that somatropin derived from mammalian cells is the only US FDA-approved treatment indicated to increase lean body mass, bodyweight, and physical endurance in HIV-associated wasting.6 Anyone weighing the two for ageing or for muscle is weighing two uses that no approval covers, rather than two approved options. How growth hormone stands against the compounds it is most often set beside is covered on the comparison page.
What age is too late for HGH?
review
The approvals answer the opposite end of that question and say nothing at all about the end people ask about. The paediatric approval sets a floor rather than a ceiling, covering pediatric patients at least 1 year of age.1 The adult approvals are written around conditions instead of around ages. Nothing published sets an upper age at which growth hormone stops doing whatever it does, because no trial in this record enrolled a healthy adult of any age. The populations are children with growth disorders and adults already inside an illness, among them patients with short bowel syndrome who were dependent on intravenous parenteral nutrition.17 So there is no cut-off to report rather than a late one. An upper limit would have to come from a study of healthy adults at different ages, and no such study appears among the sources behind this page.
What we could not verify
human RCT
We do not purchase, test or assay anything, so nothing on this page describes a vial on sale anywhere today. No analysis among the research behind this page reports the identity, concentration or sterility of growth hormone obtained outside the approved supply, which leaves that question unmeasured rather than settled. We hold no confirmed record of who makes the material behind trading names outside the regulated supply, and no public register connects the two. We cannot establish whether a certificate you were shown is genuine either, though the laboratory named on it can. One further gap sits underneath all of it. Every figure anywhere on this site came from an approved injection given to a diagnosed patient under a protocol. One such trial randomised 228 prepubertal children with growth hormone deficiency.18 A certificate answers what is in a vial, and it does not move a trial result onto it.
What we don’t know
The gaps in the evidence matter as much as the findings.
- 01What is inside a vial sold under these three letters by anyone outside a pharmacy. No analysis among the research behind this page reports its identity, concentration or sterility, which leaves it unmeasured rather than settled.
- 02Who makes the material behind trading names outside the regulated supply. No public register connects a trading name to a manufacturer, and nobody is obliged to state one.
- 03Whether any seller is more reliable than another. Among the research behind this page, no study, agency or register evaluates them, so the question has no published answer at all.
- 04What growth hormone costs anywhere. Pricing is commercial information, and it appears in no study we cite and in no regulatory register.
- 05What a failed vial would look like to a buyer. Sterility and identity are laboratory findings rather than anything visible, and no source among the research behind this page describes a check a reader could run at home.
- 06How much of the supply has ever been examined. Every entry on the enforcement record names a pharmaceutical firm, which is the regulated and documented corner of it.
- 07Whether a certificate shown to you is genuine. Only the laboratory named on it can confirm that, and we record a result as named but not confirmed when we ask and receive no reply.
